About Us

Friends for over twenty years, Capelo founders Kelly and Libby met in Los Angeles after relocating from their respective homelands: Kelly from the UK and Libby from Australia.

Over the years their many shared interests included travel, one of their favourite destinations being Mexico - and it was on a road trip in an old school bus through a remote mountainous area that they discovered their gorgeous handmade hats.

The hats quickly became their favourite accessory and after being asked "Where did you get that hat?" by countless friends and strangers, they decided to start Capelo and bring the hats to the rest of the world.

Kelly and Libby are hopeful that by introducing these wonderful handmade products to a wider audience the craft of hat making will continue to survive in small Mexican communities for generations to come.
